After a tiring day at Jurong Island doing stocktake, I came back home dragging my feet.
But when I spotted over a pot filled with orange gooey liquid, I was over the moon. Inside the pot was home made tang yuan that you could never find anywhere else. In fact, I dont get to eat it every year either, esp when my mum started taking care of the kids.
Her tang yuan is different. It is made with plain flour, with no sesame and peanut inside, but yet much more chewy. There were some years when she substituted sesame and peanut tangyuan inside, but I hated it. The liquid was also different, instead of clear and viscuous, hers was orange and gooey. but its just simple and sweet.
In the midst of christmas and western delicacy, its nice to have traditional chinese food during chinese festivals for a change.
