超級星光大道 2009-11-20 pt.7/10 48強分組對抗賽

Do watch the video, if you seldom play the videos on my blog. Its a really nice song.

Hokkien is a powerful language. Not only does it sound homely, it is able to express really strong emotions.

I went for my first stocktake today, and the counters were all Chinese uncles. They seemed unwilling to talk to me at first, but after I asked them a question in Hokkien, they were really helpful.
When I went Batam, the massage parlour owner could only converse in Hokkien and he threw in a lot of good deals for us.

And to think that the government has not only discouraged dialect, but is also promoting the teaching of Chinese Language using English.

I hope it really works. And when everyone starts speaking perfect English. Shingz.

Stupid me

Stupid me thought that I have done payroll for so many times, that this would not be a problem for me.

Copy paste format, checked.

Talk to HR, checked.

Fill in data, checked.

Next up, talk to payroll officer.

I told her that I needed to check the payroll for a certain employee. Payroll, checked. Just when she wanted to refer to another document for me to check, the mental calculator part of my brain urge me to blurt out the pay amount. Loud. In a quiet office. And my client had to tell me to shush, but in a nice way of course.

Sigh. How can I go on CA if I carry on like that.

A Lovely and Thoughtful Surprise

I have been tired of blogging lately, but this definitely warrant a need for blogging.

While at work today, I was chatting with mr tam and mr tam decided to meet me for dinner as I couldnt spend time with him this weekend. I would be spending this weekend with some of my run mates in Batam.

Suddenly I remembered that I had to change money for my trip. I couldnt quite remember if Batam belongs to Malaysia or Indonesia, thus I had to ask mr tam," Where is Batam??" And of course mr tam proceeded to answer my stupid question patiently.

At 5ish, mr tam said that he was leaving his house to pick me up from client's place.

At 6.15, he msged me to tell me that he was going to be late.

At 6.40 when I left office, he called me to say that there is a massive jam at Chinatown. At that moment, I was thinking, "Why is he at Chinatown?' But after thinking twice, I thought that most prob mr tam is being forgetful again, took a wrong turn and landed up in Chinatown.

mr tam reached at around 6.50pm. While chatting with mr tam, I was worried about whether I had time to exchange money.

Me: Your father have? (mr tam's father works in indonesia)

mr tam: Nope.

Me: Maybe I should ask my mum to help me change.

mr tam: Huh? U asked her to change already?

Me: No, not yet. You think 100 enough?

mr tam: Think change 150 better. (started smiling to himself. Tried to question him about it, and he argued that he didn)

I got a little suspicious then, started to suspect if he had helped me to change already. But I brush the thoughts away, thinking that it was impossible for him to leave his house at 6pm, rush to change money, and come to pick me up at 6.50pm.

Then he signalled to tell me that he had a secret to tell.

"其实我已经帮你换了。"

If u know mr tam well enough, he doesnt plan surprises usually. But this came as a nice and rare surprise from him!
